Either You’re Networking or You're NOT Working (HBCU Homecoming Edition)

Homecoming season approaches! That means it's a perfect time to improve upon and flex your networking skills. Networking is a pivotal component of career success and is often one of the most undervalued and overlooked takeaways from the collegiate experience. Networking can be beneficial when navigating not only the academic experience but can also be helpful when preparing students for career transitions and professional success. Within this session, we will explore the world of networking as well as the do’s and don’ts and we will share strategies that can help students to more effectively connect with employers while navigating their collegiate success, especially during Homecoming season.

The main objectives for this session are:

  • Help individuals learn how to more strategically navigate through conferences and events during homecoming season utilizing networking

  • Alleviate the fear and apprehension that individuals face when networking

  • Discuss strategies that students can begin implementing now to build their networks

  • Share strategies that will enhance the communication process within future work environments that will contribute to more effective relationships

  • Address how to make solid impressions on those you desire to leave a lasting impact
