Albany State University — Albany, GA
Albany State offers multiple nursing degrees and certificates. This HBCU nursing program offers an Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) through convenient options: a "traditional" track, an evening track for working students, a hybrid track and an accelerated track for health care professionals. The ASN prepares candidates by building knowledge and clinical skills. Albany State also offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) with a "2+2 Format" where students take two years of core coursework and then two years exclusively in nursing courses. An accelerated (or second degree) BSN is designed for students who have a bachelor's degree in another concentration. An online Post-Licensure Program is designed for students who are Registered Nurses (RN) but want to earn their BSN. Albany State's Master of Science in Nursing programs are for (1) Family Nurse Practitioners, (2) Nurse Educators and (3) advanced practice RNs who practice Nursing Informatics.
Fort Valley State University – Fort Valley, GA
FVSU is the second HBCU in Georgia to house a nursing program; their inaugural class matriculated in the fall of 2023. The four year program will grant students a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Phoebe Putney Health System is investing $240k in an education partnership with Fort Valley State to help address the shortage of nurses in rural Georgia. Students and instructors will have opportunities at the Phoebe Simulation and Innovation Center at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, GA. The partnership will include initiatives designed to attract and recruit both rural and male students into the nursing program.
Paine College — Augusta GA
Paine offers a Pre-Nursing Program that leads to a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. After completing 41 pre-requisite credit hours at Paine, students can continue their studies at International University of Nursing (IUON) St. Kitts. Students begin the clinical component on the IUON campus and complete their BSN degree at one of the accredited IUON US partner schools including: Colorado State University-Pueblo Campus, Morehead State University, KY and Louisiana College or Canadian affiliate, Nipissing University in Ontario. Upon passing the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) examination, students can practice as a licensed registered nurse.
