Forbes Honored These HBCU Alum in Their 2024 '30 Under 30' List

 

Forbes recently released its list of 2024, 30 under 30 honorees.

Judged by social impact, scale, inventiveness, funding, revenue, and potential, here we share ten honorees who are HBCU alumni.

Nia Faith Betty, Howard University alum, BFA in Theatre Arts and Dance

Along with her sister Justice Faith, Betty founded Révolutionnaire, an education, action and amplification platform. Their platform includes shade and size inclusive dance apparel and a nail polish collaboration with Essie.

Temilayo Butler, Howard University, Bachelor of Business Administration, International Business, Finance, German. 

Butler is the Vice President of Business Development and Strategy at HarbourView Equity Partners, an investment firm, where she has supported the sourcing of more than 400 media opportunities, resulting in more than 40 acquisitions within two years.

Matthew Clarke, PhD, Howard University alum, Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering

While an Aerospace Engineering professor at Stanford, Clarke developed an aircraft design tool called SUAVE used for conceptualizing more sustainable design aircrafts. This design tool is used by over 10,000 aerospace engineering professionals

Kadidja Dosso, Hampton University alum, Bachelor of Business Administration

Dosso is the creator of Dosso Beauty, an affordable organic cosmetic and personal care product line that produces hypoallergenic, itch-free and scalp-friendly hair extensions. 

Aiyana Ishmael, Florida A&M alum, BS in Journalism

Ishmael is an associate editor at fashion and culture magazine, Teen Vogue. Ishmael's bimonthly series, CTRL+C, documents her plus-sized recreations of buzz-worthy celebrity outfits. Her work is a commentary and analysis of size-inclusivity within the fashion industry. 

Nina Meyers, Spelman College alum, BS in Chemistry 

As a Growth Equity Investor at Goldman Sachs, Meyers leads the One Million Black Women initiative, which aims to decrease opportunity gaps for Black women by  investing $10 billion into affordable housing, jobs and education.

Justin Shaifer, Hampton University alum, B.S. in Marine and Environmental Science 

Shaifer is the founder, and creative producer of Fascinate Media. The media platform tells compelling stories about science and technology for educational institutions, television networks and commercial brands to inspire Gen Z and underrepresented students' engagement with STEM subjects.

Tiana Tukes, Morehouse College alum, Bachelor of Arts 

As the co-founder of LGBT + VC , Tukes leads initiatives dedicated to advancing financial inclusion and economic prosperity for LGBTQ communities through venture capital.

Armani White, Delaware State University, Music

White is a hip-hop artist who describes his music as "happy hood music”. His breakout hit "Billie Eilish" went gold and he has been honored as BET's Amplified Artist and MTV's Push Artist in 2023.

Nialah Wilson-Small, PhD, Howard University alum, Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering

Wilson-Small is an Industry Assistant Professor at NYU. Her work focuses on the creation of coordination algorithms that enable human interactions with drones through touch.
