Pride Month on HBCU Campuses

June is Pride Month and if you are thinking about how you will celebrate that on your campus, you should check out CampusPride.org.

Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) are just like other college campuses that have significantly improved the programming for Pride Month.

CampusPride.org has done a lot of the legwork for the college community to catalogue the resources available on campuses. They have added a HBCU Campus Clearing House providing the "most up-to-date resource to view each HBCU and review a checklist of LGBTQ-inclusive policies, programs and practices." One of the items on the checklist includes whether or not the college campus has a paid staff that has responsibilities for LGBTQ support services. Another is whether or not the campus has LGBTQ counseling or support groups.

If there is no program on your HBCU campus think about starting one. Find allies on campus who will support your initiative. Make sure to include the career center staff.
