The U.S. Department of Education (National Center for Education Statistics, 2011) reported that Blacks are more likely to enroll and complete their entire academic undergraduate coursework online (Moore, 2014). This was more than any other demographic group. However, others are jumping on the online education movement as well. Black Teen Unemployment High During Coronavirus

The US Department of Labor released the employment numbers for July 2020.  The July jobs report showed non farm payroll went up by 1.8 million jobs and the unemployment rate fell to 10.2%. This reflects people returning to work as companies slowly reopened. The numbers are not good overall, but it is concerning that the unemployment rate among African American teens stands at 22.5%, down from the peak of shutdown in May of 34.9%. On one hand some will say that retail is booming. Amazon, the online retail giant sought to hire 175,000 additional workers during the Coronavirus pandemic. Teaching Job Skills Employers Want With Digital Education

Cheyney University of Pennsylvania has launched a new digital education initiative. The program officially titled “Technology Applications for Professional Success” is funded by Title III grants to strengthen Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).  The project started off in a rather unique way that involved students — “updating” the university’s story on Wikipedia.
