Have you ever taken the time to think about what you want to do in life? What are your true passions, career aspirations, or long-term goals? And how do you plan on achieving them? Assessing your V.I.S.A. is one way to begin identifying the career path for you.

V.I.S.A. is an acronym that stands for Values, Interests, Skills, and Abilities - four factors that deeply influence your personal and career decisions. Created by The HBCU Career Center’s founder, Dr. Marcia F. Robinson, the Real V.I.S.A. can help people better understand themselves to increase their self-awareness as it relates to personal and career goals.

Here are some career assessment tools to help you discover your V.I.S.A.

Meyers-Briggs

The Meyers-Briggs (or 16Personalities) test is one of the most popular personality tests, with over 1,000,000 people taking it each month. Users answer a variety of questions to determine their personality type and strengths. Once the test is completed, it analyzes the user’s answers to determine which of the 16 personality types fits them the most. The test, created by Isabel Myers and Katherine Briggs, is free and only takes about 10 to 15 minutes to complete.

Big Five Personality Test

The Big Five Personality Test is a tool backed by scientists and commonly used by psychologists. With the Big Five Personality Test, users answer questions based on five personality traits: Openness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism, to determine which one they match. Like the Meyers-Briggs Test, the Big Five Personality test is a popular assessment tool used by millions of people for educational and career development purposes.
