Howard & Virginia Union Alum is Making Financial Literacy Fun with This Card Game

To increase financial literacy within the Black community, Ruby Black, MSW, has created a fun way to learn about wealth creation.

As most who’ve gone through the American education system know, there is almost no formal education about personal finances.

As a result, financial literacy is sometimes never covered throughout a child’s time in primary and secondary school. Unfortunately, a lack of understanding about taxes, mortgages, credit, and other financial topics, can allow adults to be taken advantage of and miss out on opportunities.

Play Win Invest is an online game designed to help young black professionals and college students increase their knowledge about wealth management while rewarding them with fun weekly prizes.

“Play Win Invest is the first web-based game created by a black woman to not only give players vital knowledge that helps them grow their wealth and learn to invest but also rewards that effort with big prizes every single week!” (BlackNews.com)

“Black professionals and college students need to be brought to the forefront of our financial possibilities,” Taylor, an alumna of Virginia Union University and Howard University, told BlackNews.com. “As corporate conversations around representation and diversity reach stratospheric levels, more action is needed.”

Aside from Play Win Invest, Taylor is also the CEO and Founder of Financial Joy School. Financial Joy School “provides youth and families with the tools and resources to build generational wealth through long-term investing.”

The game will officially go live during Black History Month in February 2023. Players will learn about investing, making a stable income, creating financial wealth, and much more.

Get on their waitlist if you want to be one of the first to play Play Win Invest.
