Learn these Skills on your Next Internship

In an article published in the Deseret Morning News, Wendy Leonard says, “Colleges and universities dump a lot of new college graduates into the work force, and yet some in the work force still need additional, specialized training to perform well in the jobs they choose.”
Although they have the required skills on paper, some new grads need extra training on the soft skills so they can be effective in their new jobs.

One way to get some of this additional training, before beginning your first year on the job is by doing internships. If you are planning an internship soon, here are 5 key soft skills you should look for opportunities to develop: (These are the skills employers consistently say they want in new grads)

-Team building skills
-Leadership skills
-Client Relations or customer service skills
-Interpersonal skills
-Project Management skills

You can learn more than you think on your internship or co-op experience. In many cases you just have to ask.
