Government Internships with Mayors and Governors

Did you know there could be government internships available in the Mayor’s Office in your town or the Governor’s office in your state?

government internships

Whether you are interested in Public Policy, Government, Community Relations or Social Issues, or NOT, there are government internship possibilities at a town hall near you.  Whether you are looking for summer internships close to school or close to home, consider these big-city options of government internships with mayors and state governors.  If the idea appeals to you, but you don’t live in or are near to any of these, why not call up the Mayor’s office in your own town?  You might be surprised at what government internship opportunities are available for you.

Some General Tips about Government Internships:

  1. Most of the internships in the Mayor’s office might be unpaid
  2. There could be government internships at City Hall throughout the year.
  3. Pay attention to deadlines
  4. Follow application instructions. Sometimes applications for local, state or federal positions can be a little bit complex.
  5. Your political affiliation does NOT hinder an application for government internships
  6. Most of these offices have diversity recruiting initiatives.  Do not be shy — go ahead and ask about those programs.
