Green Collar Internships

green collar internshipsEvery year thousands of college students explore green careers through green collar internships.  A great resource for “green” opportunities and internship programs is the Environmental Careers Organization (ECO), a non-profit organization founded in 1972. ECO develops professionals for the environmental fields through meaningful green collar internship programs in a variety of companies.

Their website offers an impressive database of environmental green collar internships for bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral students and even recent college graduates.

Public agencies with green collar internships

-Bureau of Land Management
-EPA Training or Research Programs
-USDA Forest Service
-US Geological Survey
-US Fish and Wildlife Service
-National Park Services
-National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration

Every year more than 500 ECO Associates are chosen for 12-week to two-year green collar internship assignments in competitive internship programs.

In addition to the green collar internships database, ECO offers the “Ask ECO” feature where Kevin Doyle will answer questions on career strategies for succeeding in “green collar” professions.
