A great resource for “green” internship opportunities is the Environmental Careers Organization (ECO), a non-profit organization founded in 1972. ECO develops professionals for the environmental fields through meaningful internship programs in a variety of companies.
The ECO website offers an impressive database of environmental internship programs for bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral students and recent graduates.
Some of the organizations listing green internships include:
-Bureau of Land Management
-EPA Training or Research Programs
-USDA Forest Service
-US Geological Survey
-US Fish and Woldlife Service
-National Park Services
-National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration
More than 500 ECO Associates are chosen annually for 12-week to two-year internship assignments in competitive internship programs.
In addition to internships, check out the “Ask ECO” feature for answers about on career strategies for succeeding in “green collar” professions.
